Department overview
Child specialist consultations for babies, children and teenagers
Children fall ill often and usually without warning. Our visiting child specialist (paediatrician) sees babies, children and teenagers for common illnesses and for parents' questions about growth, feeding and general health.
If tests are needed, our lab can carry out blood, urine and stool tests for children, and home sample collection can save a trip when your child is unwell.
Common reasons to visit
- Fever, cough and cold
- Diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach pain
- Ear, throat and chest infections
- Skin rashes and allergies
- Poor appetite or slow weight gain
- Growth and development questions
Helpful tips for parents
- Bring your child's health or vaccination card
- Note the temperature readings and when the fever started
- Carry previous prescriptions and reports
- Ask us about home sample collection if your child is unwell
Good to know: Seek emergency care immediately if your child has difficulty breathing, is unusually drowsy, has a seizure or is not drinking fluids.
