Department overview
Bone and joint consultations with a visiting orthopaedic specialist
Pain in the joints, back or neck can make everyday work difficult. Our visiting orthopaedic (bone and joint) specialist can examine you, explain what may be causing the problem and suggest the next steps for treatment.
Where blood tests help, such as uric acid for suspected gout or a blood count, they can be done in our lab during the same visit.
Common reasons to visit
- Knee, hip and shoulder pain
- Back pain and neck pain
- Joint stiffness and swelling
- Sprains and sports injuries
- Follow-up after a fracture or injury
- Bone and joint concerns in older adults
Before your appointment
- Bring any X-ray, MRI or scan reports you already have
- Carry your current prescriptions
- Note when the pain started and what makes it worse
- Wear loose clothing for easier examination
